Written by Lisa Baker, Nutritionist at Nutra Naturals

Winter is a great time to focus on looking after your overall health. Shorter daylight hours and cooler temperatures make it a good time to pay extra attention to your diet and lifestyle, so we wanted to share some insight into what your body needs to feel your best this season. resistance). There's a lot within our control when it comes to looking after our bodies, and most of it comes back to the fundamentals: eating well, staying active, resting properly and taking care of yourself day to day.

Your skin, nails and general wellbeing all benefit from consistent care, and looking after the basics goes a long way. Our Collagen Beauty contains Collagen, Vitamin C and Zinc, and provides collagen protein and key nutrients as part of a healthy, varied diet.

Our bodies are naturally complex and are always working hard behind the scenes to keep us feeling well, which is exactly why the everyday basics like nutrition, movement and rest matter so much.

To help keep you healthy, here are some diet and lifestyle tips for feeling your best this winter.

1. Energy and Nutrients
Our bodies are massive consumers of energy and nutrients, and how you're feeling day-to-day is often one of the first things affected when you're not getting enough of either. Some of the most essential everyday nutrients are:

  • Vitamin C (which is abundant in red capsicum, broccoli and citrus fruit)
  • Vitamin E (found in most nuts and seeds)
  • Zinc (found in meat, legumes, whole grains, nuts, eggs and dairy)
  • Vitamin A (found in organ meats, oily fish, pumpkin and carrot)
  • and Vitamin D!
Our best way of getting Vitamin D is from the sun, but we can’t always get enough sun. This is why our Mushroom Broths, available in Beef and Chicken, are a great way to top up your Vitamin D intake (especially in winter), as they contain a high Vitamin D Mushroom Powder. But as always, a healthy varied diet is always your best bet to ensure you are covering all bases and supporting your body!

2. Exercise
Exercise stimulates a heap of processes in the body to help with health and vitality, including a boost in circulation and lymph drainage. Excessive exercise, however, can be hard on the body, so be careful not to overdo it! Excessive exercise, however, is associated with a decrease in immune function, so be careful not to overdo it!

3. Sleep
Sleep is an extremely important part of feeling your best, and getting enough good-quality sleep matters for how you feel day to day. With the decreased daylight hours of winter, there really isn’t any excuse to not get your 8-9 hours of shut-eye.

If you're needing a little help with winding down at night, our Lunar Latte is a dreamy pre-bedtime indulgence, containing calming ingredients like magnesium making it the perfect addition to your night time routine.

4. Pre and Probiotics
Pre and probiotic foods are a great addition to a varied, balanced diet. Incorporating Pre and Probiotics can be helpful. Some great natural sources of prebiotics include garlic, onions, asparagus, bananas (the less ripe the better), apples and oats. Some great probiotic options are yoghurt, sauerkraut, kimchi, miso and kombucha.

In conclusion, as per most self-care pieces of advice, mum was right all along. Feed yourself well, move well and rest well in order to stay well this Winter.
